Buy Condoms in Russia

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

It was a famous saying in Russia (at the time of Soviet Union), “There is no SEX in Russia”. It was taken out of TV discussion between Phil Donahue and Russian TV audience. Well, what they meant, was  – any mention about sex was completely forbidden in media and public life. Condoms were extremely not popular. STDs were on a rise and then came AIDS.

Condom manufacturing started in Russia in 1930s. It was made by the same company that made gas masks. Gas masks were named Product #1 (it was considered a part of Personal Protection Equipment package and was a secret product) Condoms were named Product #2. They were extremely thick and had an awful smell. This is a typical example of Soviet Era Condom

Those days you can buy any brand of condoms in Russia. Prices vary, but they are compatible to the prices in USA.

Going through an airport security is annoying enough. You want to avoid any embarrassing questions from custom employees about strange subjects in your luggage. In order to avoid it, if you are traveling with your sex toys in your luggage, follow those 5 simple rules:

1. Remove the batteries. Your toy can be in OFF mode, but can be switched to ON position, just by shake or knock .

2. Pack your toy in a clear zip-locked plastic bag. By doing that, nobody will physically touch the toy and it will stay hygienic.

3. Put adult toys in checked luggage. Your carry-on bags are checked in front of you and the crowd of strangers.

4. Sex toys are forbidden in some parts of the world (for example Thailand ). Some of USA states have restrictions too. Look up information on those restrictions at your destination.

5. Buy a sex toy for travel. If it gets lost or stolen you will not feel as bad as loosing your favorite or expensive toy.

As a member of a family expecting the arrival of a new baby, I can tell you how much money you have to spend just to get ready for it. We are not talking hundreds of dollars, it’s much more that.

To increase the use of condoms and to discourage people from having unwanted pregnancies, Durex put out a new condom advertisement, created by Espiral DP, which shows the financial benefits of using a condom. The advertisement depicts a colorful toddler’s playpen with a price tag of $420, and underneath the playpen, it shows a Durex logo with a price tag of $2.50. This suggests that by spending money on a condom, you are preventing the massive financial costs that are often caused by having a child. Advertisements like this do not just serve to increase the amount of money that the company makes, but also provide important information to the public. More advertisements like this one can help convince people that condoms are one of the most effective ways of preventing pregnancies.

You have to admit one thing, Durex has a good sense of humor!
